My goal in life is simple, I want to help others feel less broken.
I prefer to work with clients who come in to treat issues as opposed to people who come in for simple relaxation. I am a healer, who mends. I take a whole person approach. If a client comes to me with skin issues, for example it may or may not be the products they are using, it may be an issue being caused by diet or lifestyle, and the same goes for a client coming in with sciatica, it may be old hips, or it could be body mechanics. Let’s figure it out together and get on the right path for whole body homeostasis. I attended American Institute of Massage (Now called Lotus School of Integrated Professions), under the instruction of the famous Joseph Schibner in 2005, took my national exam in 2006 to be state licensed. I have taken over 4,000 hours’ worth of continuing education hours since that time in various massage techniques, but my favorite type of massage to perform is sports massage, trigger point therapy, and western style table Thai massage. In 2008 I attended Trinity College of Natural Health, and received the designation Certified Natural Health Practitioner in January of 2009. I really enjoy learning any aspect of holistic health because in addition to utilizing my skills to help my clients, I apply these principals in my daily life to avoid cold and flu with all the germs my little ones bring home from school and daycare. I believe that living a Paleo lifestyle, daily yoga, regular massage therapy care, and drinking enough water is the foundation of living a life of natural wellness as our bodies were designed to do. I attended American Spirit Institute in 2017, under the instruction of Melissa Deaton (local Aesthetician rock star, with over 25 years’ experience), and took my state boards in January 2018, and passed with a 93, and received the designation Licensed Aesthetician. My passion in skincare came from dealing with my own adult acne after being diagnosed with celiac disease in 2010, and realizing that my body wasn’t properly absorbing nutrients, which was causing my skin issues along with other problems. Because of what I went through, I made it my mission to help people with auto immune disorders and the relating skin problems, and I know I found my calling when I see the sparkle back in my client’s eye, when I know they are now comfortable with the skin they are in, as we all should be. I love all aspects of the Spa & Wellness Industry however I consider my specialties to be migraine relief, sciatica relief, weight loss, and auto immune related skin problems. I founded my first business Old Mechanicsville Health Spa in August of 2011, renting 1 room, we have now grown have 5 rooms, and employ 2 other licensed Aestheticians, and 6 other licensed massage therapists, and are now located in the eclectic Scott’s Addition Historic District. I pride myself on being an equal opportunity employer with a diverse and inclusive practice. I founded my second business, Savasana Yoga Mat Bag Company in 2017, we make yoga mat bags from 100% recycled spa linens and donate 20% of all proceeds to a different charity each quarter. When I am not seeing spa clients, I handle all the marketing and administrative aspects of both companies, and have started assisting other small business owners in their marketing efforts as a Marketing Coach, my goal with this is to teach other small business owners the basics of popular online marketing platforms, so they can do it themselves effectively and empower them to put their own original values and mission statements back in front of their brick and mortar establishments. I have a strict rule for myself Mondays thru Wednesdays are for all the above, Thursdays thru Sunday is dedicated 100% to my family. My number 1 supporter; my husband Steve and I are proud parents of a daredevil 7-year-old son who loves to read and practice Taekwondo and a sassy, but too adorable 3-year-old daughter who loves to play outside and create artwork. We have a 3-year-old pit bull at home named Shadow, who still has a lot of puppy in her, and loves to run up and down stairs, and spend time at doggie daycare visiting her buddies. When I have time to myself, I enjoy reading, traveling (especially camping), running, practicing yoga (especially hot vinyasa, and rocket yoga), and hanging with my kids.
