Swedish Massage

A light to medium pressure full body massage. Great for first timers or people who do not receive regular massage, as the easy gliding motions do not cause any discomfort like some of our more focused treatments. These movements warm up the muscle tissue, releasing tension and gradually breaking up muscle “knots” or adhered tissues, called adhesions. Used to treat general anxiety and promote relaxation.

Deep Tissue Massage

This massage is designed to help relieve pain and tension. Deep tissue massage is a medium to heavy pressure massage, designed to penetrate through the layers of muscle. It can be used to relieve pain associated with muscle strain, sports injuries, whiplash, osteoarthritis and other debilitating conditions. Most clients will need to ice muscles down afterwards.

Sports/ Athletic Massage

Sports Massage was designed originally to help athletes prepare their bodies for peak performance, to recover after an event, and to help ease training. However, because sports massage techniques stimulate the movement of lymphatic fluid and break down adhesions, it is good for anyone, such as those recovering from injury, and chronic pain sufferers. I recommend sports massage for anyone with limited range of motion, because there is a lot of stretching included in a sports massage. There are 3 main types of Sports Massage; post event: received 1 or 2 hours after an event to help the body harmonize, restorative: performed during training to increase performance with less injury, and rehabilitation: for alleviating pain and restoring homeostasis.

Reflexology

Reflexology is massage done only on the head, ears, hands, and feet. The theory behind reflexology is that there are “reflex” areas on the feet and hands that correspond to specific organs, glands, and other parts of the body. The therapist will focus on pressing, gliding, and kneading these areas to relieve tension and stimulate energy throughout the body. This popular form of alternative medicine is generally used for relieving symptoms associated with: Stress and stress-related conditions, Tension headaches, Digestive disorders, Arthritis, Insomnia, Hormonal imbalances, Sports injuries, Menstrual disorders such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS), Digestive problems such as constipation or IBS, and Back pain.

Trigger Point Therapy/ Neuromuscular Therapy

Trigger Points are very painful spots in bands of tight muscle that may refer pain somewhere else in the body. The therapist will treat these knots by applying pressure to them with elbows, thumbs, or fingertips. The therapist will then hold the pressure until the trigger point releases. I love trigger point therapy because the therapist has the ability to accomplish with one session results that would typically take 7 to 10 regular massages. Receiving a trigger point session can be very painful and uncomfortable, but the quick results can be quite amazing. I use this modality frequently for migraine sufferers, fibromyalgia, chronic back and neck pain, and limited range of motion.

Myofascial Release

1-Fascia is connective tissue that encases muscles. Trauma, surgical procedures, or inflammation can cause myofascial restrictions. These restrictions can cause chronic pain and limited range of motion. The therapist will use passive and active techniques that include stretching and pressure with knuckles and forearm to release these restrictions. Stretching the muscles and overlying fascia causes increased circulation and lymphatic drainage. Myofascial Release has been used to treat a variety of conditions including endometriosis, menstrual pain, back pain, whiplash, sports injuries, migraines, carpal tunnel, sciatica, and myofascial pain syndrome. Client is encouraged to wear either shorts, sports bra or swim suit in order to allow therapist best access to skin. No lotions or oils are used to allow therapist to best affect fascia without slipping.

Lymphatic Massage

The lymphatic system is the filtration system that rids the body of toxins, and waste. Lymphatic Massage stimulates the flow of the lymphatic fluid helping the body to heal itself. Lymphatic massage is great for people with edema and fluid retention as it helps move the excess fluid out of the body. A well functioning lymphatic system boosts the immune system. Lymphatic massage is performed as a series of light pressure, fluid movements and draining strokes.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Based on William Garner Sutherland’s theory of cranial bone movement (1899), Dr. John Upledger developed Cranial Sacral Therapy in 1983. Studies show that the cranial bones never completely fuse together, thus making them slightly moveable joints. With light touch on the client’s skull the therapist will detect rhythmic movements of cranial bones, and restrictions in the cranial sacral system (membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spine). Then using the same gentle touch, the therapist will manipulate the head to release these restrictions and reset the body’s internal computer. Cranial Sacral Therapy has been used to effectively treat chronic neck and shoulder pain, migraines, motor coordination impairments, colic, autism, central nervous system disorders, orthopedic problems, traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries, scoliosis, infantile disorders, learning disabilities, chronic fatigue, emotional disorders, stress and tension, fibromyalgia and other connective tissue disorders, TMJ, neuromuscular and immune disorders, PTSD, and post surgical rehabilitation. It has also been proven to release endorphins, causing the client to fall into a state of deep relaxation.

Hot Stone Massage

A customized massage is performed with the use of heated lava and basalt stones. The client is massaged with a combination of stones, palms, and elbows. The stones may also be placed at specific points on the body to inspire relaxation throughout. Hot Stones are great for heating the muscles so they allow a deeper pressure. It is also used for promoting deep muscle and tissue relaxation, alleviating stress, releasing toxins, relieving pain, improving circulation, and calming the psyche. Some health conditions that are commonly treated with Hot Stone massage are muscular aches and pains, back pain, MS, arthritis, fibromyalgia, stress, anxiety, circulatory problems, insomnia, and depression.

Add hot stones to any of the above massages for only $20 more.

Thai Massage

During a Thai Massage session the therapist utilizes their palms, elbows, and feet to press the muscles, stimulate sen (energy pathways) points, and gently place the client in yoga like poses. Although Thai Massage requires very active movements from the therapist, it is very soothing and relaxing for the client, as the client simply allows the therapist to do the work without “helping”. Thai Massage has been used to help with many ailments, and feels amazing. As the Owner I can honestly say this is my favorite type of massage since I began doing Massage 8 years ago. If it is not on your bucket list yet, this is something everyone should try.

Half Baked

A customized massage with Apothecanna’s Extra Strength CBD massage creme, this treatment will help decrease pain while, increasing overall relaxation and euphoria. The therapist works to break through layers of binding and congestion deep within the muscles. This service can be performed on a target area or as a full body massage, based on clients needs.

4 Hand Massage

Need an hour massage, but only have 30 mins? This is the perfect solution; 2 therapists work on you at the same time, so you can get your full body massaged in just 30 mins. This is also helpful for people with connective tissue disorders (especially Fibromyalgia sufferers), or just generally tight muscles because 2 therapists can place a client into opposing stretches that 1 therapist alone could not do.
